Published Wednesday, April 30, 2008

SANBORN (AP) — Authorities say a rural Sanborn man is dead after a grain silo collapsed on him.

The Redwood County Sheriff’s Department says 62-year-old Stuart R. Steffen was emptying corn from the nearly full silo on when it fell about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, which is in Redwood County’s Charlestown Township near Sanborn. Authorities are investigating.

Sanborn is about 35 miles west of New Ulm.
