Tigers take two from Fergus Falls

Published Wednesday, April 30, 2008

ST. CLOUD — The St. Cloud Tech Tigers shut down Fergus Falls with two good pitching performances Tuesday in a Central Lakes Conference twinbill.

Adam Johnson and Nick Roeder combined their pitching talents as the Tigers romped 10-3 in Game 1.

Roeder hit a two-run homer in the sixth and scored three runs.

Jake Heck collected two hits and scored once for the Otters.

Aaron Link started on the hill for the Otters but gave way to Nick Johnson in the fifth.

Singles by Derek Hansen and Matt Duenow produced Fergus’ lone run in Game 2 and the Tigers went on to claim a 4-1 victory.

Duenow had two of Fergus’ five hits in the game.

The Tech victory was highlighted by a strong relief outing by Collin Stinogel, who fanned seven and walked only one after relieving Roeder in the third inning.

Spencer Kidder fired a one-hitter and fanned seven as the Otter JV team blanked Tech 11-0 in their first game. Boyden Lee went 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

Alex Hensch was 3-for-3 and Kidder had a two-run double as the Otters tied Tech 4-4 in Game 2.
