A Merit Care flight on route from Fergus Falls to Hennepin County Sunday made an emergency landing at an airport in Buffalo.
According to Merit Care spokesperson Darren Huber, the pilot made the decision to land the helicopter after gages indicated it was experiencing mechanical problems.
While in the process of making the landing, one of the helicopter’s two engines went out.
The pilot was able to land safely at the Buffalo airport and the patient was transported by ground ambulance to Hennepin County. No injuries occurred.
The private company that employs the pilots, Petroleum Helicopter, Inc., is expected to release more details later in the day.
