3rd Annual Dine Out, kick-off for United Way
Published Thursday, August 14, 2008
United Way of Otter Tail County Dons New Look for Third Annual “Dine out Day” County Wide Kick-off Event
On August 15th, United Way of Otter Tail County will officially kick off its campaign along with a new look, or, brand, if you will – LIVE UNITED. The brand promise is that United Way advances the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all.
You’ll see that new brand on Friday, August 15th at the Viking Café at 9:00 am. United Way of Otter Tail County will once again hold “Dine out Day for United Way", however, this year, involving the entire county. The ’08-’09 campaign kicks off at Pat Shol’s eatery located at 203 West Lincon in Fergus Falls. “It’s not a formal event – it’s community members, business associates, donors and friends coming together for a cup of coffee – rallying together to build some excitement and show support for the many programs funded by United Way,” says Executive Director Mary Phillipe.
A portion of the day’s proceeds go towards the United Way of Otter Tail County campaign. “It’s a great way to show your support – and it’s something we all do – eat.” Participating restaurants in Fergus Falls include: Applebee’s, Arby’s, DairyLand, Debbie’s Kitchen, Dominos, Godfather’s Pizza, Putter’s, Pizza Ranch, Pizza Hut, Taco John’s and of course, The Viking Café. Restaurants participating in Battle Lake include Prante’s on the Lake, Stella’s and the Shoreline. In Dalton, The Dalton Café and in Henning, Battle View Landing is a great place to stop for a burger! Parker’s Prairie restaurants include The Cozy Cup Café and The Dipper Family Diner. Perham eateries participating in the event include The Cactus, Dairy Queen, Betty’s Pantry and Jinhu Chinese Restaurant. The Tastee Freeze in Pelican Rapids is also participating.
The new branding “LIVE UNITED” is not just “a new look” or a “new phrase” says Dahlstrom, “it’s an invitation, asking people to think and act differently. It’s based on the premise that when we reach out a hand to one another, we influence the condition of all.”
"Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life,” adds Phillipe, "along with this new branding comes three focus areas – Education, Income and Health. These are the building blocks for a good life. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families or individuals are financially stable and when people have good health.”
Throughout the year, United Way will continue to create opportunities for individuals to Give. Advocate. Volunteer. For questions, please call the United Way office at 218.736.5147 or go to HYPERLINK "http://www.uwotc.com" www.uwotc.com.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by metasonics (anonymous) on August 14, 2008 at 4:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)
this is a great concept and all involved should be commended!
