Queen of Steam sought
Published Wednesday, August 20, 2008
The Dalton Queen of Steam Pageant is returning to the threshing show.
The Queen of Steam was an important part of the threshing reunions for 38 years then took a ten year absence.
The Dalton Community Club will incorporate the pageant back into the LRPTA show.
Organizers are looking for girls ages 15-18 who live in the Dalton area or who have a connection with LRPTA through parents and/or grandparents. There will be a little king and queen pageant for 5-6 year-old children who live in the Dalton area or have a connection with LRPTA.
Chosen candidates will represent LRPTA during the show, Sept 5-7, and at area parades during the summer of 2009.
Interested candidates should call or email:
Queen of Steam - Jennifer Johnson, (218) 589-8461, jonjen@prtel.com
Little King/Queen - Becky Sonmor, (218) 589-8400, bbsonmor@prtel.com
Deadline to sign up is Monday, Aug. 25. Coronation will be Wednesday Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dalton Community Center.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by theweasel (anonymous) on August 20, 2008 at 3:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I second the vote for Cooper. He actually has a chance at winning this I think.
