Hillcrest’s Hard Tjervag moves the ball as teammate Silvestre Martinzek, left, readies to make a move Monday night against Little Falls at Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls. Defending are Gilly Stoy (17) and Nick Andringa of Little Falls.
FERGUS FALLS — The scoring duo of Andreas Saevig and Pedro Villagomes produced four goals Monday as Hillcrest-Pelican Rapids defe-ated Little Falls 4-2 in boys high school soccer action at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.
Saevig opened the scoring with the only goal of the first half at the 15 minute mark.
Saevig took a header off a Kristoffer Nilssen corner kick and put it into the net.
The Comets went up 2-0 at the 19 minute mark of the second half when Nilssen again found Saevig, this time with a floating pass up the middle that Saevig put into the right side of the net.
A minute later Villagomes found the net after taking a cross from Nilssen that was batted around inside the box.
Down 3-0, Little Falls turned to an unlikely source to get on the scoreboard — successive penalty kicks at the 27 and 33-minute marks of the second half to come within a goal of the Comets.
But Villagomes sealed the victory when he scored the game-winning goal after taking a rebound off the left side and put it in the flyers’ net.
Hector Lemus and Havard Froysa shared duties as goaltenders in the Comet net.
In other Hillcrest boys soccer action, the Comets JV team lost 3-0 to Little Falls. The Comets travel to Detroit Lakes for a game Thursday evening.
