2008 shaping up well for Chargers

Published Saturday, August 30, 2008

BRANDON - The 2008 season shapes up to be a dandy for Gary Ekdahl and his Brandon-Evansville volleyball team.

The Chargers have nine players back from their 2007 team that posted a 19-7 season record and shocked Little Eight Conference champ Ashby in the playoffs.

Seniors back are leftside hitter and captain Jenna Meissner, libero Tasha Bosek and leftside hitter Nicki Olson.

Juniors on the squad will be leftside hitters Kristi Schaffer, Courtney Jesnowski and Tanya Froemming, setters Carli Randt and Leah Hanson, libero Megan Boesl, middle blocker Michelle Bruns and rightside hitter Meagan Strese.

Sophomore Heather Dickey will be a rightside hitter while freshman Heather Strese returns to play a middle blocker spot.

Ekdahl has Ashby and Underwood sized up as two of the Little Eight’s best this year but sees another competitive year in the LEC. Wheaton, West Central Area and Hancock will all be strong teams in section play.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
