The Trip Committee of the Senior Center has decided to plan trips every other month during our traveling season. With that in mind, our first trip is scheduled for the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre on Saturday, April 12.
So plan to see "42nd Street" which is described as a Broadway musical extravaganza "that sizzles from start to finish" with fantastic tap-dancing and great songs. Maybe you saw the original movie back in 1933, and remember some of the "stars" — Ruby Keeler, Ginger Rogers, Guy Kibbie, Una Merkel, Dick Powell. And songs — "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" and "You're Getting to be a Habit with Me." Remember? Then, for sure, you will enjoy this trip.
The bus leaves at 7 a.m. and we should arrive home again around 8:30 p.m. There will be a coffee stop on the way down and supper on the way home. Cost for the trip which includes transportation, dinner and the show is $60 for members ($65 non-members). Please register and pay in the Senior office by March 7.
Returning to next week, we have homemade donuts with Jeani Trosvig from Mill Street Residence serving at the Senior Center at 2 p.m. on Feb. 28.
If you have never taken the Driver Improvement course, you will have an opportunity to do so from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 and 23, at A.L.C. Completion of the class allows a 10 percent discount on your auto insurance for a three year period if you are a Minnesota resident, age 55 or older. Cost is $20, payable at the Community Education office.
I've heard rumors that there are some senior members who are domino players who would like to pursue the game on a regular basis at the Senior Center. The program committee is willing to set up a special time and day if enough people are interested. Make your wishes known in the senior office. If you have other programming ideas, tell us that too.
Meanwhile, keep warm!

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
