Klobuchar a refreshing lawmaker

Published Wednesday, January 16, 2008

When she was campaigning in 2006, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar promised to visit all 87 counties every year if she was elected.

Klobuchar, who visited Elbow Lake’s municipal airport last week, deserves credit for keeping her promise thus far. She visited all 87 counties in 2007, and considering she’s already visited several counties in western and southwestern Minnesota in the first two weeks of January, she’s well on her way to fulfilling her promise this year.

Some may argue whether visiting all 87 counties annually should take priority over other work on the plate of a U.S. senator. However, clearly, by seeing and visiting with people in the entire state, Klobuchar will certainly gain knowledge of the true issues Minnesotans face.

Besides, it’s refreshing to see a politician actually live up to her campaign promise.

Well, it's a minimal promise at best but at least she kept it! Perhaps she is not yet tainted to corruption by Washington....good for her.

Maybe she can a get a job as a travel agent rather than Senator.

Sooner or later don't we all feel the repercussions of any person we elect? If we don't, those are the ones we should be leery about electing.
