Fergus U19 boys fall to Alex, tie DL

The Fergus Falls U19 boys lost a 3-1 decision to Alexandria and earned a 2-2 tie with Detroit Lakes over the weekend.
Trevor Gervais scored the lone Fergus goal in the loss at Alexandria. Gervais launched a 45-yard kick after a drop back pass from Nathan Jensen. The goal, 15 minutes into the first half, cut Alexandria’s lead to 2-1.
Karl Sanderson handled the goaltending duties and turned away eight shots.
T.J. Gaustad put in the first goal in Fergus’ tie with Detroit Lakes when he scored off a free kick by Jensen. Brian Rodning tied the game at 2-2 28 minutes into the second half with a long, looping shot from the let side. Josh Johnson earned an assist.
U12 Cyclones battle three Dakota teams at Aberdeen
ABERDEEN, S.D. — The Fergus U12 girls suffered three setbacks in the Aberdeen (S.D.) Tournament over the weekend.
The Cyclones lost a 5-3 decision to the Aberdeen Arsenal in Game 1. The Fergus lost bowed to the Grand Forks Kicks 3-2 in Game 2.
The final game saw a strong Pierre Oahe team post a 5-0 victory.
Lauren Norgren scored three times for the Cyclones while Brianna Rasmussen added two goals. Rasmusson, Norgren and Kathryn Sawtell earned assists.
