School accepts bids for secondary building

Published Tuesday, July 1, 2008

The Fergus Falls School Board voted Monday to allow officials with RA Morton and ATS and R to go ahead with plans to interview and write up contracts for the first round of proposed bidders for the new secondary school construction project.

The first round will include contractors who presented the most comprehensive bid for initial stage construction projects, such as masonry, plumbing, heating and ventilation systems, carpentry and concrete, to name a few.

If interviews reveal a change in course in terms of price or company, RA Morton, a construction management company, and ATS and R, architects, will approach the school board before taking further action, said RA Morton President, Preston Euerle.

This is only the first round of proposed bids to be presented to the school board. The two firms will present further bids at the school board’s next meeting July 14.

Detailed projects will be determined by the school board’s assessment of what would best suit the school with the money available.

Final decisions on detailed projects will be made by the end of July.
