Enjoy the Fourth and be safe
Published Thursday, July 3, 2008
The Fourth of July holiday weekend will be extra-long and chock full of events and entertainment this year.
While July 4 itself is a single-day national observance of Independence Day, Otter Tail County residents are in for three solid days of events and activities.
The fun actually gets underway today with fireworks celebrations in Fergus Falls, Ashby and New York Mills. In Fergus Falls tonight the “Music in the Park” series will get the holiday weekend rocking.
From fireworks in Perham and the big parade in Erhard to boat parades and family gatherings, there will be plenty of fun activities for us all to participate in here in Otter Tail County.
With all this entertainment and festive action right here in our own backyard, there’s no need to burn up $4-a-gallon gasoline going somewhere else looking for fun on the Fourth of July holiday weekend. So stay close to home and have more fun than anybody should be able to have.
It doesn’t get much better than what’s on tap for our communities in coming days. Enjoy, and be safe.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
