Tax program thanks local contributors

Published Thursday, July 3, 2008

Thank you Paul Lindholm and Security State Bank.

The local AARP Tax Aide service provides free income tax preparation for low- to moderate-income taxpayers, with an emphasis placed on serving seniors.

This organization, in the area that I coordinate, operates with 18 volunteer counselors and coordinators. Funding for expenses and supplies, including some computers, is provided by the AARP Foundation.

Funding for advertising and meetings are provided by donations from local businesses and other organizations. We were able to hold an end-of-season meeting, with brunch being served, due to the generosity of Security State Bank and its CEO, Paul Lindholm.

Thank you, Mr. Lindholm, and Security State Bank for helping to provide these resources so we could enjoy the time together to wrap up the tax season.

Darrell S. Strand - Local Coordinator

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
