Tedd Steenbock has filed for the post of county commissioner in District 5. The district, which includes most of Fergus Falls, will be vacated at year’s end by current commissioner Robert Block, who is retiring from the county board.
Steenbock is retired from Mycogen Seeds/Dow Chemical for which he served as a territory manager for 30 years. He had 10 counties under his supervision, with over 50 salesmen servicing close to 1,500 farms.
“I’ve been asked by business owners and others to run for the District 5 position,” Steenbock said.
Steenbock has previously served on township boards and know the challenges faced by farmers and others who reside throughout Otter Tail County. He has served on the pollution board and Eagle Lake Property Owners Association for 17 years and has held various capacities as a member of First Lutheran Church.
Steenbock said he will not have a learning curve when dealing with the many complex issues facing the five-person Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners.
“I’ve learned firsthand the challenges related to stray voltage, barnyard runoff and other rural issues,” Steenbock said.
Steenbock has worked as a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) and owned and operated a full service gas station at Campbell, southeast of Breckenridge. He owns and operates Classic Car World in Campbell.
He continues to operate the family farm which will become a Century Farm in 2014.
Steenbock and his wife, Patti, have four children and six grandchildren. They reside in Bayview Heights and enjoy traveling abroad and throughout the United States.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
