Rogness

Lee Rogness, a longtime business owner in Fergus Falls, has announced his candidacy for the 5th District commissioner position being vacated at year’s end by Robert Block. Rogness and his brothers have been in the farm equipment business (Interstate Inc.) as a dealer for John Deere, Massey Ferguson and other lines of equipment since 1971.

Rogness said that his interest in the position stems from his desire to give back to Otter Tail County where he and his family have successfully run their equipment business and have raised their families.

He has served as a past president of the Fergus Falls Port Authority and is a past president and board member of the Minnesota and South Dakota Equipment Dealer Association. Rogness currently serves on the board of Otter Tail Ag Enterprises, LLC, ethanol plant as vice president. He was also on the original steering committee when the plant was in its inception.

Rogness currently is president and chairman of the board of Lutheran Brethren Homes, with a local continuum of care campus in Fergus Falls. He is a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he serves on a number of different boards and committees.

He is a graduate of MSCTC, Fergus Falls, then known as Fergus Falls Community College where he earned his associates degree in business and accounting. Rogness has been active in Fergus Falls with health and nursing home issues, economic development, and various businesses.

Rogness and his wife, Lavonne, have three married daughters and five grandchildren.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
