As indicated last week, the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) office is up and running.
This is the new office located next to the nutrition office on the main floor of the Senior Center.
The Senior Center in Fergus Falls was chosen as an ADRC outreach site because of its connection to the elderly in the community.
At this office, many supportive materials will be maintained for distribution and referrals will be made as needed to the Senior Linkage Line and the county senior coordinator. Trained volunteers will be available to assist with materials and computer web sites.
Goals of the ADRC are to rebalance the long term care system.
People will be encouraged to use home and community based services, thus making an effort to reduce reliance on institutional care. Plans also include community support systems as well as providing support in decision making and understanding choices.
If you wish help in your long term care needs through the ADRC office in the Senior Center, please call 736-6842 for a consultation, or someone is in this office; stop in and talk it over.
Next Wednesday, July 30, students from Harmony Studios will be at the Senior Center at 11 a.m. to provide entertainment before the noon meal featuring pork roast. To make a reservation for the meal, call 736-6842.
We don't often mention our regularly scheduled programs in this column, but sometimes a reminder is helpful.
Weekly events include the following: quilting at 9 a.m. and ladies' pool at 10 a.m. on Monday mornings; arthritis exercise at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; cards (bridge, hand and foot, pinochle) continue at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; and whist and bingo alternate on Fridays at 1 p.m.
Here is a little prayer that has been making the rounds. If you haven't heard it before, I think it will bring a smile: "Dear Lord, So far, today, I am doing all right. I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or self-indulgent. I have not whined, complained, cursed or eaten any chocolate. I have charged nothing on my credit card. But I will be getting out of bed in a minute, and I think that I will really need your help then."

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
