Dairy princesses busy during June Dairy Month

Published Thursday, June 5, 2008

Darla Marty, Dairy Princess coordinator for West Otter Tail County, said June — which is Dairy Month — is a busy time for princesses in Otter Tail County and across the state.

The 2008-09 princesses are Hana Cardwell of rural Rothsay, Melissa Curfman of Pelican Rapids and Rebekah Frietag of rural Elizabeth.

Marty also is the contact person for young women who want to enter the dairy princess competition for West Otter Tail County. She can be reached at home at 736-2608 or by cell phone at 731-5048.

From June Dairy Month all the way through to the Minnesota State Fair, there’s lots to do, see and taste.

“It’s a time to get to know some of Otter Tail County’s dairy farm families,” said Marty, “while checking out delicious recipes and learning more about what it takes to produce the milk, cheese, butter, yogurt and ice cream.” Princess Activities for June:

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
