Class of ‘88 plans 20th reunion:
The Fergus Falls Class of 1988 will hold its 20th reunion Saturday, July 19, and will include a family picnic at Broadway Park from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The evening events begin at 5:30 p.m. at Putter’s Bar and Grill at Pebble Lake Golf Course.

Calling all kids to the Wadena parade:
The Wadena Wave group is once again hosting a kiddie parade on Thursday, June 19. Participants are to meet by the courthouse at 6:30 p.m. for registration and lineup, and the parade will start at 6:45 p.m.
This year’s parade categories are: silly/funny, patriotic, storybook character, superhero, and wheels. Prizes are (10) $10 chamber bucks for category winners.

Bike club to ride from Motley:
The Lakes Area Bike Club will leave from Pine Ridge Golf Course near Motley at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be rides of varying lengths. Helmets are recommended. There is no charge.
New riders of all abilities are welcome.

Poverty workshop offered by UW:
“Framework for Bridges out of Poverty,” will be presented by Bridges Certified trainer Cindy Pic.
The worshop, sponsored by United Way of Otter Tail County and Pic, will teach participants the unspoken rules of poverty, examples of language registers and behaviors and key tactics to assist in transition from welfare to work.

55+ Driver Improvement program offered:
The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering a 55+ Driver Improvement Course on the following days:
• June 21 — (eight-hour full course), 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at Lutheran Island Camp in Henning
• June 25 and 26 — (eight-hour full course), 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Lutheran Island Camp in Henning
The Driver Improvement course is open to the public; however, pre-registration is requested. A Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center certified instructor teaches this class.
Driver safety, confidence and comfort are enhanced by utilizing the most up-to-date research in the field, including the latest visual scanning and steering techniques, anti-lock braking (ABS) skills, airbag information, driver distraction, road rage and new vehicle technology.

Persons age 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a ten percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law.
Class of 1948 will have their 60th reunion in July
The 60th reunion for the Class of 1948 is planned July 24 and 25. On
Thursday, the class has been invited by Elaine Olson, classmate, to be her guest for socializing and an evening meal at 5 p.m. The address is 1509 Opperman Bay Court.
On Friday, July 25, social hour from 5 to 6 p.m., dinner, and socializing at the Bigwood Center located at 925 Western Avenue, is planned. Registration and pictures will be taken as you come in the entry way. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. A short program and socializing will follow.

Balmoral plans Rally for a Cure:
Registration for the Balmoral Ladies League seventh annual Rally for
the Cure Golf Tournament for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is now taking place. The fund-raising event is scheduled Monday, Aug. 4, at Balmoral Golf Course.
It will be a four-lady scramble with a variety of optional fund rasing events. Prizes will be awarded and lunch served. All money raised will go to Komen for the Cure.
To sign up for this fun event and to donate to a great cause you can contact Balmoral Golf course (218-864-5414). Last year’s event raised more than $7,000 for the Komen Foundation.
Survivors asked to ride float:
Area cancer survivors are invited to ride with this year's honorary chairs for Relay for Life Otter Tail West on their float in Saturday's Summerfest parade in Fergus Falls.
