DETROIT LAKES — Detroit Lakes must have felt it was seeing double Monday when it hosted Fergus Falls VFW Post 612.
That’s because Post 612 scored 17 runs not once, but twice, Monday at Detoit Lakes.
In game 1, a 17-8 victory, 10 different players had at least one hit for Fergus Falls, Coach Ryan Hendrickson said.
"I found myself saying 'stay hot and keep hitting the ball hard' to everybody that came to the plate,” Hendrickson said. “We were right on the ball all night”
Post 612 was led by Spencer Kidder, who scored three runs off five hits and knocked in seven runs.
Trevor Larson scored four runs off three hits while Boyden Lee and Danny Revering scored three runs each.
Revering was the starting pitcher but was replaced by Jeff Hamann after giving up six runs.
"Our key is going to be limiting BB's making the opponite swing the bat! If they hit the ball I feel (at times) we have the best defense in the conference,” Hendrickson said.
In game two Post 612 defeated Detroit Lakes 14-9. Kidder, Lee and Hamann scored three runs each to lead Fergus Falls. Seven different players had hits for Post 612.
Darrin Stanislawski pitched the first four innings, giving five runs. James Evenson gave up four runs in relief.
