Council seeks citizen input
Published Tuesday, March 4, 2008
The Ashby City Council, headed by Mayor Tom Grover, takes citizen input seriously. This philosophy, said City Clerk/Treasurer Val Martin, is part of the city’s mission.
“Comments and suggestions from Ashby residents are very important to us,” Grover said Thursday at Ashby City Hall. “We’re doing our best to be a progressive community, looking into the future. At the same time, we always strive to take care of our very important residents.”
The city, as noted by both Grover and Martin, points out on the city web site that citizens are encouraged to call city staff, the mayor and council members with concerns. Ashby residents also are encouraged to attend council meetings that are held the first Tuesday of the month.
City Hall is located at 203 West Main in Ashby, on the south side of downtown. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
City council members are Kristyn Fick, Carl Ulrich, Lynn Jensen and Peter Hoff. Thor Tollefson is police chief, works superintendent is Paul Teicher and Grover is a part-time police officer.
Thursday was a busy day for Grover. In addition to handling some mayor duties, he also was part of the first response team due to rollovers during icy conditions along nearby Interstate 94.
Mayor Grover previously appointed the following Ashby residents to various committees and other areas for 2008:

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by bigsly (anonymous) on May 1, 2008 at 5:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Looks like the Grover clan is representing the bustling community of Ashby quite well!
Perhaps Donna Jean Grover could supply some insight for future development!
