Kevin Richter, vice president of Star Bank, Elbow Lake, is proud of the new bank building on the south side of downtown.

People entering Elbow Lake from the south end of town along Highway 59, as they enter downtown, see a new building occupied by Star Bank. Employees moved into the new facility on March 17.

“A drive up and ATM are two new services at Star Bank to better serve our loyal customers,” said Kevin Richter, bank vice president. “We have more parking at our new facility, and being on a corner allows for easier access, as well.”

Best of all are the many positive comments that Richter and the other three bank employees have received about the new building. Services at Star Bank include checking, savings, money market accounts, agricultural loans, real estate loans and consumer loans, to name a few.

Star Bank in Elbow Lake is one of eight Star Banks in Minnesota. The closest ones to Elbow Lake are at Barrett, Wheaton and Graceville.

Employees at all of the eight Star Bank locations adhere to the bank mission to faithfully serve and provide financial solutions for customers and communities. The motto is, “The Bank That Cares.”

People are encouraged to visit the bank online. Star Bank employees strive to provide, in their words, “outstanding customer service — and we appreciate feedback.”

Richter, a South Dakota native, has been in the banking business since 1981. He came to Elbow Lake to work at Star Bank, in the former location, on Feb. 25. New to the Star Bank system, he previously served at First National Bank South Dakota, in Mitchell, S.D.

He and his wife, Michele, are the parents of four adult children. Both say they enjoy small-town living and look forward to becoming part of the Elbow Lake community.

An open house is planned for early summer.

When the new bank first opened on Monday, March 17, patrons were served cookies and coffee. Richter and his three associates say that customer service will continue as a priority while assisting customers in the Elbow Lake area.
