Teenager injured on 4-wheeler:

Cassie Wiese, 18, Pelican Rapids, was injured in a 4-wheeler accident Thursday evening along Highway 28 southwest of Pelican Rapids. Wiese lost control after hitting a snowbank about 6:42 p.m., according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department.

The 4-wheeler landed on Wiese during the mishap. A passenger, Christopher Haugen, pulled the 4-wheeler off the victim who sustained shoulder and leg injures. Wiese was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, Detroit Lakes.

Driver, avoiding deer, strikes pole guide wire:

Joshua Stock, 23, Underwood, avoided injury after his vehicle missed a deer and struck a power pole guide wire at an intersection along Clitherall Lake Road at 9:19 p.m. Thursday.

Stock was eastbound when he swerved his vehicle to avoid the deer. The vehicle went off the roadway and into the ditch, later striking the power pole guide wire. The pole itself broke off at ground level, resulting in a brief outage for customers of Otter Tail Power Company.

A passenger in the vehicle driven by Stock also was not insured. The pole was replaced by crews of Otter Tail Power.

Joshua A. Jelinek, 19, Wahpeton, was arrest and charged with gross sexual imposition, a Class A felony. He reportedly engaged in sexual contact with a juvenile female under age 15 at a Wahpeton residence.

Jelinek remains in custody in the Richland County Corrections Center.

The maximum penalty for a Class A felony is 20 years imprisonment, a fine of $10,000, or both.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
