Lady Spartans claim twinbill at Rochester

ROCHESTER — The state tournament-bound Minnesota State CTC Lady Spartans swept a doubleheader with Rochester Wednesday winning 5-4 and 5-2.
The Lady Spartans exploded for all five of their runs in the sixth inning to claim the opener.
Erin Evavold supported her own pitching effort with three hits and Claire Parks collected two.
Brittany Mensink went 3-for-4 in the loss.
“I thought we did a good job of putting the ball in play and running the bases,” said MSCTC coach Lloyd Danzeisen.
Evavold walked three and fanned two.
Emily Christenson threw shutout ball for six innings as the Lady Spartans won the nightcap.
Evavold, and Laura McCarthy both had two hits and two RBIs.
The Lady Spartans are now 13-11 heading into Thursday’s doubleheader at Riverland.
