Blue Devils take pair from Lady Spartans

AUSTIN — The MSCTC Lady Spartans ended their season with a 10-10 record Thursday as they lost both ends of a doubleheader with Riverland.
Jill Radke and Tracee Crawley both went 2-for-3 as the Blue Devils edged the Spartans 6-5 in the opener.
The Lady Spartans closed to within one in the seventh as Laura McCarthy singled in Sam Woida. Nikki Kneisl was tagged out as they attempted to score the tying run.
Woida and McCarthy both had two hits in the loss, Kneisl hit a lead-off homer in the first and Melissa Walvatne slugged a solo shot.
The Blue Devils exploded for six runs in the second inning and went on to defeat the Spartans 8-4 in Game 2.
Brittany Quistorff paced the Spartans with three hits while Kneisl added two.
MSCTC enters state tournament play Saturday at Sauk Rapids.
