BARRETT — The West Central Area Knights lost both games of a double header on Thursday 14-7 and 3-0.
The Knights rallied from a 6-0 deficit to force extra innings but Hawley came back with seven runs in the top of the eighth.
Tyler Anderson and Alan Strom were the offensive leaders for the Knights. Strom went 3-for-5 with a run scored and Anderson went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Anderson also took the loss on the mound for the Knights.
“We kept our heads up and kept battling back to tie the game at the end of regulation. We just need to close these close games and get in the win column” said WCA head coach Terry Ohlgren.
In the second game, the two teams played only four innings as the sun was beginning to set. On the mound, Erick Erickson allowed three hits and one earned run, walked four and struck out five. He also had the only hit of the game for the Knights.
“Errors, walks and the sun going down all worked against us in this game” said Ohlgren.
The Knights will play a doubleheader at home against D-G-F on Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. and will play at Pelican Rapids on Friday.
