Bulldogs chalk up two victories

BATTLE LAKE — The unbeaten Otter Tail Central Bulldogs improved to 13-0 Tuesday as they swept Menahga 4-3 and 10-0.
Jen Severs drove in Lindsay Nelson and Kelsey Koep in the eighth inning to rally the Bulldogs past the Braves in Game 1.
Carley Nelson fanned nine in notching her sixth straight victory.
Freshman Carmen Malmstrom tossed a one-hitter as the Bulldogs won Game 2 in five innings. Malmstrom fanned three and fanned one.
Severs was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Lindsay Nelson went 2-for-4 with a triple and one RBI.
The Bulldogs are 9-0 in conference play heading into a road trip to Pillager Thursday.

St. Cloud Apollo 1-2, Fergus Falls 0-0
ST. CLOUD — Apollo ace Kaci Parsons scattered nine hits in two shutout victories.
“That is the best pitcher we’ve seen this year,” said Fergus Falls assistant coach Ron Heskett. “She has a great rise ball and our girls just couldn’t catch up with it.”
Parsons fanned nine and did not allow a walk in game one.
Aly Erickson fanned four and walked only one in Game 1. Parsons singled in Mallory White in the second inning to give Apollo the victory in the opener.
Fergus’ Abby Springer, Erika Magnusson and Devon Clark all singled in the first game.
The Eagles pushed two runs across in the top of the seventh to win Game 2.
Amanda Bunde and Allison Gray both went 2-for-4.
Clark had a pair of hits for the Otters.
Erickson took the loss again in Game 2 but fanned five while Parsons struck out just two batters.
The Otter JV team won 13-1 and 9-4.
The Otters are now 8-5 as they prepare to host Brainerd Thursday in a 3 p.m. twinbill at DeLagoon Park.

Hillcrest 6, Wheaton 2
WHEATON — Sam Hanson fanned eight and surrendered only one earned run as the Comets topped the Warriors.
Kylie Howe collected three hits in four trips for Hillcrest.
Sophia Undseth and Hilary Ouse both went 2-for-4.
“It was nice to get back on the winning track today with a great overall effort both offensively and defensively,” said Hillcrest head coach Tim Jensen.

ASHBY — The Arrows held off a rally by Ortonville in the top oft he seventh to gain their seventh victory in nine outings.
The Arrows exploded for five runs in the fourth inning to grab a 7-0 lead. The Trojans were shutout until the fifth when they scored four times.
Amanda Johnson, Andrea Moe, Kelly Falk and Danielle Holcomb all came up with two hits. Johnson, Falk and Moe all drove in two runs. Johnson had a solo home run.
The Arrows are now 5-0 in the Pheasant Conference. The Arrows will host Wheaton Thursday in a 5 p.m. contest.

STAPLES — Rachel Dezell earned two victories as the Cardinals swept the Yellowjackets.
Amanda Snyder came up with Perham’s lone hit in Game 1.
Mallory Malikowski went 3-for-4 and stole four bases as the Yellowjackets broke their cold streak at the plate in Game 2. Kaila Formanek went 2-for-3 and Sara Formanek tripled.
Malikowski was hung with the loss in both games.
