Otters bow twice at DeLagoon

The Brainerd Warriors used their bats and some Fergus Falls errors to win 14-2 and 6-5 Thursday at DeLagoon Park.
Brainerd exploded for nine runs in the fourth inning of Game 1 to win the game in five innings.
“Once they found a zone they just went a little crazy,” said Fergus Falls head coach Renee Erickson. “The hitting was contagious.”
Steph Neugbauer went 4-for-4 with a home run. Steph Lambrecht clouted a three-run shot.
Brittany Gagner drove in both Fergus runs in the first with a double. Erika Magnusson and Kara Fisher both went 2-for-3 with one double apiece.
Aly Erickson was hung with the loss.
The Otters fought their way back from a 5-2 deficit in Game 2 to tie the game with a three-run seventh. A double by Steph Muxfeldt, triples by Fisher and Gagner and a fielder’s choice tied the game.
Brainerd won it in the bottom half of the seventh as Hallsey Olson reached on a bunt, advanced on a wild pitch and with one out, came around to score on a double by Neugbauer.
“We switched up our lineup but we were happy with the way we hit,” said Erickson, who saw her club collect 12 safeties.
Fisher and Cristina Masten both went 2-for-4. Emily Brink collected two hits and scored twice for Brainerd.
Aimee Magnusson took the pitching loss.
The Fergus JV team lost 5-4 and 10-0.
The Otters will host Alexandria in a 10 a.m. makeup game Saturday. They will also face Thief River Falls in a noon game.
