Bears overpower Arrows; Vikings, Comets win

ASHBY — The Bertha-Hewitt Bears trounced the Ashby Arrows 17-4 Friday in a five-inning game.

Brett Hanson and Collin Ruer both collected two hits for the Arrows, who were coming off a doubleheader sweep.

The Arrows are now 4-7 overall heading into a Monday game at Wheaton.

Pelican Rapids 9, WCA 4

PELICAN RAPIDS — Alex Johnson surrendered only one walk in gaining the mound win as the Vikes topped the Knights.

Jan-Erik Lindberg and Ty Storrusten both collected two hits for Pelican. Brian Guler doubled in two runs.

Ty Anderson went 2-for-4 and drove in two WCA runs. Tucker Belgum went 2-for-3.

The Vikes are 7-3 overall and 6-3 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.

The Vikings play a road game Monday with Otter Tail Central.

Jamie Stedjan struck out 13 and surrendered just two hits as the Comets blanked the Wolverines.

The Comets scored all four of their runs in the third in singes by Zach Taylor and Stedjan and doubles by Nick and Tony Tungseth and Tim Erickson.

The Comets, 5-5, will host Ortonville Monday.
