Cardinals hand Otters 7-0 setback

Courtney Richardson, Ally Teclan and Dani Bany paced the Alexandria Cardinals Saturday morning in a rain-shortened 7-0 win over Fergus Falls at DeLagoon Park.
Richardson went 3-for-4, scored twice and drove in four runs. Teclan connected for a three-run homer in the fifth. Bany tossed a four-hit shutout.
“We chased the ball a lot,” said Fergus Falls head coach Renee Erickson.
Having faced the three toughest teams in the section over the past week, the Otters saw their record drop to 8-8.
The Cardinals reached the section finals last year and came into the season with their lineup virtually intact.
Erickson had special praise for Richardson, who she felt “has one of the nicest swings I’ve seen since I started coaching.”
Erika Magnusson, Abby Springer, Kara Fisher and Nikki Clouse all singled for the Otters.
The Otters will be seeking to regroup for the playoffs this week as they host Sartell Tuesday and Rocori Thursday.
