FF golfers triumph

Published Tuesday, May 13, 2008

COLD SPRING — Lucas Gervais captured medalist honors and the Fergus Falls Otters posted an eight-stroke victory Monday in the Rocori Invitational.

“I put a new putter in the bag and it gave me a lot of confidence on the greens,” said Gervais, who shot a 73.

The Otters turned in a team round of 309. Brainerd was second with a 317 and Alexandria finished third in the 10-team invitational with a 318.

Mike Tuel carded a 77 while Nick Risbrudt came up with a 78, Allen Sellner shot an 81, Trevor Gervais fired an 84 and Taylor Gray recorded a 92.

Risbrudt did not play for the Otters in their victory at the Fargo North Invitational over the weekend but his round was a solid effort by the Fergus freshman.

“The round I play went really well for me today,” said Risbrudt. “I was pleased with my round in the windy conditions.”

The Otters, who have won four of their last five meets, will travel to Detroit Lakes Thursday.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
