Pelican Rapids nine routs OTC 15-4

BATTLE LAKE — The Pelican Rapids Vikings used an 11-hit attack and three costly Otter Tail Central errors in a 15-4 victory Monday over the Bulldogs.

Andrew Sorum tossed five shutout innings for the Vikings. Sorum was backed up by some good defensive play by catcher Jan-Erik Lindberg and three double plays.

The Vikings led 5-0 when Steve Bradsteen’s Bulldogs erupted for four runs. The Vikings clung to their one-run lead until the fifth when they exploded for five runs. Five more runs in the sixth ended the game early.

Alex Johnson collected two doubles and two RBIs. Ryan Morgan went 2-for-2 and scored three times. Sam Krueger came up with two hits, one run and one RBI.

Ty Macheledt had a big two-run double in the fourth. Jeremy Umlauf had an RBI-single.

The Vikings are now 8-3 heading into a 4:30 p.m. game Tuesday at Dilworth. The Bulldogs are 2-6-1 heading into Tuesday’s game at Verndale.

The unbeaten Trojans erupted for five runs in the top of the sixth to top the Comets.

James Stedjan singled and scored twice for Hillcrest.

Andrew Treinen homered for the Trojans.

FRAZEE — Sam Meyer, Ben Omberg and Anthony Ruther all came up with two hits as the Yellowjackets whipped the Hornets.

Tyler Lynne and Jeremy Lahr combined to hold the Hornets to four hits. The Perham duo also came up with seven strikeouts.

Justin Hoskins had two hits for the Hornets.

The Yellowjackets will host Wadena-Deer Creek Tuesday.

Wheaton 11, Ashby 1

WHEATON — Four errors and eight free passes cost the Arrows in a six-inning loss to the Warriors.

The Arrows out-hit the Warriors 6-5.

Jordan Lillemon came up with two hits for the Arrows while Mike House doubled and scored Ashby’s lone run in the third inning.

Ryan Schwagel went the distance for the Warriors. Brett Hanson dropped to 1-1 by taking the mound loss.

The Arrows, who are now 3-7 in the Pheasant Conference and 4-8 overall, play a road game Tuesday with Brandon-Evansville.
