Retriever club to host hunting dog event

HOFFMAN — The Prairie Lakes Hunting Retriever Club invites hunters and their hunting retriever dogs to participate in a “Fun Hunt” Retriever Test beginning at 1p.m. Sunday at Elk Lake Heritage Preserve.
Club members say the Fun Hunt is a great opportunity to meet and work with other owners of hunting retrievers. Owners can run their dog at the started, seasoned or finished test level, as the dog's experience suggests.
Others may just want to be part of the gallery, listen to the training tips of club members and judges, and watch the dogs do their best in the simulated hunting retrieves.
The cost to participants will be $10 per run, with Prairie Lakes HRC ribbons awarded to passing dogs. The dogs will be competing against standards set by the National Hunting Retriever Club, Inc, and not against other dogs. No live birds will be used.

Prairie Lakes HRC has members in several area counties. Hunting Retriever Club, Inc. has more than 8,500 members and 132 clubs in 36 states.
