City administrator out of touch, overpaid

Published Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Last year the city provided tax dollars for golf club improvements and here we go again. Spending tax dollars that benefit the few, most of which can afford to pay higher fees if the golf course is in need.

Fees are comparable or lower to other courses in our area. At the price of gasoline, golf course members will waste money driving to other courses. A fee increase is more in line with the public’s interest.

Ben Schierer is right, the golf course is an asset to Fergus Falls, as is the airport. However these assets are becoming liabilities as our school enrollment decreases, our hospital loses doctors, and the city refuses to invest in the future and improvements to make Fergus grow and expand its tax base.
