Heck, Otters split doubleheader with Sartell

SARTELL — Mark Aho’s Fergus Falls Otters bounced back from a 2-0 loss in Game 1 Tuesday to gain a split with Central Lakes Conference foe Sartell.
Cole Jenkins out-dueled Fergus hurler Joe Anderson in the opener. Jenkins fanned six and walked two. Anderson scattered eight hits and three walks while fanning one.
Luke Sweeter went 3-for-3 for the Sabres. Matt Duenow and Kyle Shaikoski collected Fergus’ two hits.
Jake Heck supported his own pitching effort with two hits and two RBIs as the Otters took the nightcap 7-5.
Logan Briese came up with three hits and two RBIs in the victory.
Sweeter led the Sabres with two hits. The Sabres pushed all five of their runs across in the fifth and had the winning run at the plate when the game ended.
“One more hit would have made it very interesting,” said Aho.
The Otter JV team lost 10-4 and 7-4.
Fergus will host Rocori in a 5 p.m. game Thursday at Legion Field.

CHOKIO — Jeremy Westerman scored four times and Sam Knudson collected three hits and three RBIs as the Spartans bumped the Comets.
Tim Erickson had seven strikeouts and walked only two but the Comets committed five errors behind him.
Jamie Stedjan went 2-for-2 in the loss.
Stedjan will take the hill Thursday when the Comets, now 5-7, travel to Wheaton.

PERHAM — Taylor Doll fanned 11 and Marcus Hendrickson drove in four RBIs as the Yellowjackets won both ends of a doubleheader with the Wolverines.
Doll held the Wolverines to just two hits in the opener.
Ben Bucholz drove in two runs in Game 1. Hendrickson had an RBI-double.
Hendrickson led the charge in Game 2. Shane Miller went 2-for-3 and scored three times. Nathan Schmitz collected two ribbies.
Ben Omberg fired a two-hitter in the second game, fanned eight and walking two.
Perham exploded in the third with 10 runs.
The Yellowjackets are now 4-6 as they travel to Pequot Lakes Thursday.

EVANSVILLE— Jordan Lillemon took the loss on the mound as the Arrows bowed to Brandon-Evansville.
Kurt Mickelson lead the Arrows on offense with an RBI double in the third. Picking up the pitching win for the Chargers was Tom Sullivan.
Ashby’s conference record now stands at 3-8. The Arrows’ overall record is 4-9. The Arrows will go on the road Thursday for a game with CGB.

GLYNDON— Alex Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double, a single, a three-run homer and four RBIs as the Vikings took down the Rebels.
Tydan Storrusten went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Brian Guler scored three times for Pelican.
Johnson also picked up the pitching win for the Vikings.
