Otters top Sartell; Comets triumph

Aimee Magnusson fanned six and picked up the win as the Fergus Falls Otters posted a 6-3 victory over Sartell Tuesday at DeLagoon Park,
Erika Magnusson and Kara Fisher both collected two hits and two RBIs. Abby Springer went 2-for-3 with one ribbie.
“Aimee threw really well,” said Fergus Falls head coach Renee Erickson. “She had really good composure on the mound. We also got our bats going.”
Mindy Ouren led the Sabres with three hits and one RBI.
The Otter JV team lost 3-2.
The Otters will host Rocori Thursday in a 5 p.m. game.

Sam Hanson had 11 strikeouts while only walking two batters and giving up four hits. Hanson also helped her cause by blasting a towering two-run shot in the first inning that proved to be the game winner.
“I’m really proud of the effort our girls put forth tonight,” said Comets head coach Tim Jensen. “We bounced back from a tough loss last night and beat a quality club tonight.”

Otter Tail Central 3, Verndale 1
BATTLE LAKE—The Lady Bulldogs secured the Park Region Conference championship with a win over Verndale.
The win extends the Bulldogs’ winning streak to 17 games. OTC is 17-0 and 11-0 in conference play.
Carley Nelson took the mound for the Bulldogs throwing seven strong innings giving up only four hits, striking out eleven, and allowing one earned run. Nelson is now 8-0 on the season.
Nelson also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two runs scored. Kelsey Koep had a good game going 1-for-3 and hitting the game-winning RBI in the sixth.
“It was a total team effort winning the PRC championship,” said OTC head coach Eric Olson. “The girls show up to play day in and day out. I am very proud of everyone involved in our program, junior high through varsity.
The Bulldogs’ next game will be against Berth-Hewitt on Thursday at 4:30 pm.

BARRETT— The West Central Area Lady Knights took both games against Frazee.
Taylor Brekke threw seven tough innings giving up two hits and two runs with seven strikeouts and also went 1-for-2 at the dish with two RBIs in the first game. Dana Rude was quite polite at the plate going 3-for-3 with three singles.
April Nelson threw a seven inning no-hitter while giving up one run and sitting down three batters.
Frazee turned a triple play when Paige Sierakowski lined to first and two other runners were tagged out.
Cassie Olson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the victory.
“We played pretty well today in the cold. Our pitching was good, minus a few too many walks. We only gave up two hits in the doubleheader, so that was a testament to how well we pitched when we threw strikes,” said West Central head coach Shawn Carlson.
The Lady Knights also took down Wheaton 16-4 on Monday collecting 13 hits.
WCA is now 10-7 and will play Parkers Prairie on Friday in Barrett.
W-DC 4-11, Perham 3-5
WADENA— The Wolverines took a pair from the Yellowjackets but needed nine innings in Game 1 to notch a victory.
Kim Brill went 3-for-5 with one run scored in the first game.
Perham’s Tara Sailer went 1-for-3 with one run scored, one RBI, and a walk in Game 2. Mallory Malikowski was hung with the loss in both games.
Ashby 10, Wheaton 4
WHEATON— The Ashby Lady Arrows picked up their tenth win of the season defeating the Wheaton Warriors 10-4. Amanda Johnson led Ashby at the plate going 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Kelly Falk also had a good day going 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Danielle Holcomb scattered nine hits and struck out three to pick up the win.
“The girls played another great game today both offensively and defensively,” said Arrows’ head coach Joey Andreasen. “They have been playing well all season to put themselves in the position to contend for the conference title as we head into our last two regular season games of the year against Chokio-Alberta-Herman Norcross.

Park Rapids 8, Pelican Rapids 2
PARK RAPIDS— The Pelican Rapids Vikings went down 8-2 Monday to the Park Rapids Panthers.
Soberg had three strikeouts in the first inning but Park Rapids pushed across four runs on three errors and two hits.
Alyssa Colosky, Emma Strand, Ann Ouren, Amy Field, and Lauren Paul all collected one hit at the plate.
The Vikings committed five errors in the contest.
