Sabres overpower Fergus netmen 6-1

SARTELL — The Sartell Sabres swept the doubles and took three of four singles matches Thursday in a 6-1 Central Lakes Conference victory over Fergus Falls.

Ben Ronning topped Alex Hanson 7-6 (7-5) 7-5.

The Otters will host sub-section rivals Moorhead and Bemidji Friday in a triangular on the local courts. The meet is slated to start at 3 p.m.

Detroit Lakes 6, Perham 1

PERHAM — The Perham Yellowjackets lost a 6-1 decision to Detroit Lakes in their final tuneup before the Section 8A tournament.

Perham’s John Carlson and Joe Berns racked up a straight sets victory at No. 2 doubles.

The Yellowjackets are seeded sixth out of seven teams going into section team action Tuesday at East Grand Forks. Individual action is slated for Wednesday at Crookston.
