Shaikoski stops Rocori 2-0

Kyle Shaikoski scattered seven hits as the Fergus Falls Otters blanked Rocori 2-0 Thursday at Legion Field.
Shaikoski walked three and fanned three as he hooked up with Scott Schroeder in a pitching duel that saw scoring in only one inning. Schroeder held the Otters to just three hits but a costly throwing error in the second gave the Otters their game-winning run.
Andrew Anderson led off the second with a double and moved to third on Matt Mithaugen’s groundout, Schroeder tried to pick Anderson but committed a throwing error that allowed Anderson to score. Brian Rodning reached on an error and scored on a single by Jake Heck.
“We’re getting some breaks to go our way but you get them by working hard in games and working hard in practice,” said Fergus Falls head coach Mark Aho.
Adam Bockes and Nick Schneider both collected two hits for Rocori.
The Otter JV team posted a 7-5 win.
Aho’s varsity team is now 3-9 heading in a home game Friday with Moorhead.

Wheaton 4, Hillcrest 1
WHEATON — Zach Fridgen defeated Jamie Stedjan and the Comets in a Pheasant Conference pitching duel.
Fridgen fanned 10 and walked two. Stedjan struck out 12.
“Jamie pitched well enough to keep us in the game, we just couldn’t get any hits,” said Hillcrest head coach Steve Undseth.
Curtis Coffman had a big two-run single in Wheaton’s three-run third.
Tim Erickson went 2-for-3 in the loss.

Perham 7-5, Pequot Lakes 3-2
PEQUOT LAKES — Anthony Ruther went 3-for-4 with two RBI, a home run, and a double in the first game of a double header the Perham Yellowjackets took both of the games against Pequot Lakes. Mac Stoll earned the victory on the mound for the Yellowjackets. Shane Miller went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Marcus Hendrickson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Nate Schmitz got the win with seven strong innings pitched. Schmitz also had nine strikeouts on the day.
The Yellowjackets will host Pelican Rapids Tuesday.

CLINTON — A four-run fourth inning carried the Wolverines to a Pheasant Conference victory over the Arrows.
Mike House went 2-for-4 for the Arrows, including a double, and scored twice. Tim Evavold was also 2-for-4 with two runs. Colin Ruter and Jordan Lillemon both had two hits and two RBIs.
The Arrows are now 3-9 in the Pheasant Conference and 4-10 overall.
The Arrows will travel to Ortonville Friday for a 5 p.m. conference game.
