Fergus Falls netmen gain triangular split

Published Saturday, May 17, 2008

The Fergus Falls Otters tuned up for the sub-section tournament with a split in the Otter Triangular Friday.

The Otters swept the singles in crushing Bemidji 6-1. David Sanderson, Andrew McAllister, Wade Underwood and Jake Anderson were straight set winners.

Fergus’ No. 2 doubles team of Kaleb Kosak and Ben Ronning won 6-4, 6-2. Fergus’ No. 3 doubles team of John Lindblom and Dan Schneck won 6-3, 6-3.

Underwood posted a 6-3, 6-0 win against Moorhead.

Bryce Barsness and Taylor Larson gave the Otters a 1-6, 6-4 (10-6) victory against Moorhead at No. 1 doubles.

“This was a very good match that could have went either way,” said Fergus Falls head coach Josh Mohagen. “We got on the wrong end of a few third set tiebreakers and that was the difference.”

The sub-section team tournament will be held Monday in Brainerd beginning at 9 a.m.
