As a security guard at Target, Derek Frederick was charged with ensuring that customers didn’t shoplift from the Fergus Falls store.
But who was keeping an eye on the security guard?
Frederick, 22 of Fargo, has been charged in Otter Tail County District Court with one count of felony theft and one count of gross misdemeanor theft after allegedly stealing from the store.
According to a criminal complaint, Fergus Falls Police officers were called to Target on Aug. 25 where the store’s loss prevention supervisor had Frederick in an office.
Frederick was accused of stealing property from the store. He allegedly signed a written confession stating he had been taking merchandise for about three months.
Court records state that Frederick confessed to stealing CDs, DVDs, an iPod, books and a webcam. The stolen merchandise was valued at $1,015.
Frederick’s next court appearance is Oct. 13.
