Bloom wins Beck Woodcut at PWLC

Published 12:00 p.m., October 7, 2008

John Bloom of Security State Bank was the winner of the Friends of the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center raffle. The raffle was conducted on Saturday, Aug. 9, in conjunction with the annual Return to the Prairie Day. The Beck Woodcut, titled “Winter Willow”, was generously donated by Janet Anderson of Perham in loving memory of her late husband Bob Anderson who was instrumental in helping the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center become a reality.

This year’s Return to the Prairie Day theme focused on “Arts on the Prairie” with several local artists displaying and demonstrating their artwork. In addition to Art on the Prairie, it was the grand opening of the new Prairie Science Class Education Wing and Teaching Greenhouse, the 10th anniversary of the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center, the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Small Wetlands Acquisition Program and the 75th anniversary of the Duck Stamp.
