CGB too much for Underwood

Published Friday, October 10, 2008

A wet field couldn’t slow down Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley as they beat Underwood 38-6. CBG rushed for 313 yards (396 total) and limited the Rockets to 156 yards of total offense.

CBG kept Wes Green bottled up all night, limiting him to 71 yards on 19 carries. Green scored the Rockets only touchdown on an eight yard run.

“The soggy field was better suited for their power running game,” said Rocket coach Chuck Ross.

Levi Nelson led CBG with 141 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns. Isaiah Athey rushed nine times for 54 yards and two touchdowns.

Underwood lost two starters to injury during the game. QB Dylan Meyer left the game with a concussion and Center Dylan Miller suffered a broken hand. There was no report on the extent of the injuries.

“The injuries to Meyer and Miller really hurt us.” said coach Ross. “But CBG is a really good football team.”

That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.
