The 34th annual Silent Movie Night at the Historic Fargo Theatre is planned at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 and at 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 26.
One of the silent screen's most endearing comedians, Buster Keaton, will star in “Steamboat Bill, Jr.”
In the film, Keaton, a recent Yale graduate, comes home to find his father, and irascible Mississippi riverboat captain, in deep trouble with a competing company. Buster must save the day, though he must brave jail and a great hurricane to do it.
Lance Johnson will play a live and original score on the four-manual Mighty WuriiTzer pipe organ.
The newly reorganized Fargo Theatre Big Band All-Stars will present a program of 1940s big band favorites to include a special tribute to the music of the legendary Benny Goodman.
Doug Hamilton will serve as MC.
Harvey Summerfeld will appear as a special guest artist. Performing with the band will be the Fargo Theatre Singers.
Antique and classic cars will be on display in front of the theatre.
Tickets are available from all area Hornbacher's stores and the Fargo Theatre (239-8385) at 314 Broadway, Fargo, ND 58108 and ATOS members for $11 or $13 at the door. All seating general admission.
Groups of 10 or more will receive a $2 discount per ticket (credit cards accepted).

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Post a comment
