Pelican Rapids (10-0) stayed perfect while advancing to the Section 8AA finals with a 42-7 win over Barnesville-Rothsay Saturday night.

The Vikings had a big night offensively, racking up 24 first downs and 560 total yards. The defense limited the Thunder to only eight first downs and 213 total yards

Tydan Storrusten had a huge night for the Vikings. Storrusten had 19 carries for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Matt Haugen had 81 yards and one touchdown off of five carries.

“I was happy with how we ran the ball tonight,” said Viking coach Dave Haugen. “We made some adjustments during the week and the kids responded well to them.”

Storrusten also completed nine passes on 14 attempts for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

Pelican Rapids will face Hawley (also 10-0) on Friday at 8 p.m. at Fargodome.

“Hawley has great team speed and a great defense,” Haugen said. “It should be a good game.”
