Hats off to the bike trail
Published Wednesday, September 3, 2008
Congratulations are in order to the Central Lakes Trail committee, which has raised the $68,845 local match needed to create an extension that will connect the trail to the downtown Pebble Lake Bike Trail circuit.
The private funding, which secures a $158,000 federal grant, will mean that both local bike riders, runners, roller bladers and others who use the trail – which extends to Osakis – will have the opportunity to ride into Fergus Falls. For local residents, the trail will become a more accessible asset, one that enhances the quality of life in our community.
In addition, the trail extension will allow visitors to come into Fergus Falls, benefiting local businesses and showing off our city.
Thanks to the businesses and private individuals who donated to the Central Lakes Trail. Your investment will pay off.

The Daily Journal is happy to host community conversations about news and life in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. As hosts, we expect guests will show respect for each other. That means we don't threaten or defame each other, and we keep conversations free of personal attacks. Witty is great. Abusive is not. If you think a post violates these standards, don't escalate the situation. Instead, flag the comment to alert us. We'll take action if necessary. It's not hard. This should be a place where people want to read and contribute -- a place for spirited exchanges of opinion. So those who persist with racist, defamatory or abusive postings risk losing the privilege to post at all.Posted by misadventurer (anonymous) on September 4, 2008 at 1:37 p.m. (Suggest removal)
It would be nice to see a story detailing how and where the trails are going to connect.
