Underwood’s Aann Bjorklund (13) prepares to make a move with Henning’s Ashley Haugdahl (4) and Sadie Ellenson (3) on the attack.
Underwood stayed perfect at 4-0 by beating Henning 3-0 Tuesday night. The game scores were 25-15, 29-27, and 25-10. The Rockets are making a habit of theses quick-paced, 3-0 matches. So far this season, three of their four wins have been by that same score.
The Rockets’ only Senior, Ariana Odegard, led the way by going 19-19 from the service line with 6 aces. Her night also included 3 kills and 26 set assists.
Junior Alex Floersch was also perfect from the service line, going 14-14 with 16 digs.
Sophmore Hannah Rocholl had to settle for near perfection. She went 11-12 with 1 ace and 14 digs.
Coach Diane Ross was pleased with Junior middle-hitter Aann Bjorklund’s 16 kills and 3 ace blocks, saying, “Aann blocked well and hit the ball hard the entire match.”
Other notables were Sophomore Ellen Ferry with 8 kills, and Junior Jasmine Mertz with 4 kills, 3 aces, and 4 digs. Junior Sam Huseth added 5 kills, 3 aces, and 9 digs.
The night wasn’t entirely perfect for Coach Ross though. “We can’t take mental breaks,” she said, “and we need to keep the unforced errors down.”
Underwood will try to stay unbeaten when they host Battle Lake on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Henning will play Bertha-Hewitt on Thursday in Henning.
