Published Tuesday, September 16, 2008
A Fergus Falls attorney was among two city residents seriously injured in a crash Friday night on Highway 59 near Waubun.
Daniel Madsen, 45, and Kristie Meyer, 46, suffered serious injuries when Madsen’s Honda motorcycle collided with a 2001 Oldsmobile on U.S. Highway 59 in Mahnomen County at about 11:53 pm.
Madsen suffered leg and arm fractures. Meyer sustained head injuries and a leg fracture. Both were taken to area hospitals. Meyer later was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Madsen was transfered to a hospital in Fargo, according to the State Patrol.
Three people were in the vehicle, a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, and none had apparent injuries. The driver of the car was Mary Osenga, 33, of Moorhead. Passengers were Carolyn Osenga, 27, of Bejou and Mary Schaumburg, 22, also of Bejou.
Reports state that the crash was a head-on collision. Neither Madsen or Meyer were wearing helmets.
An official of the Minnesota State Patrol says that the injuries are very serious and that the accident is still under investigation. No charge has still been filed.
