Two killed in Highway 59 crash near OT county line

Two Detroit Lakes residents died in a firery crash around noon Wednesday on Highway 59 about a half mile north of the Otter Tail County line.
Robert L. Brolin, 88, and Gail E. Paulson, 60, died in the head-on collision when the 2005 Toyota Camry Brolin was driving hit a cement truck driven by Milton Beitz, 48, of Frazee. Beitz sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses say smoke could be seen from the crash site as fire crews from Detroit Lakes and Pelican Rapids extinguished flames.
The crash occurred at milemarker 255, about 1 1/2 miles north of the intersection of Otter Tail County Highway 20 and State Highway 59. The crash scene was about a half mile north of the Otter Tail-Becker county line and about nine miles south of Detroit Lakes.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department, Becker County Sheriff's Department and State Patrol were on scene of the crash.
The fatalities were numbers 303 and 304 on highways in the state of Minnesota this year, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety
