Mattfeld escapes from custody

A 31-year-old Battle Lake woman has been charged in Otter Tail County District Court with escaping from custody.
Nicole Mattfeld, 516 Northshore Dr., Apt. 5, Battle Lake, is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond after failing to return from a court-granted furlough after being allowed to attend a family funeral.
Mattfeld was in the Otter Tail County Jail serving a 120-day sentence for two felony convictions on check forgery charges.
The court granted a request from Mattfeld to attend a funeral. She was allowed to leave jail on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. and was to return to jail on Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. She failed to return and was charged with escaping custody.
