Flekkefest, prairies, Otters and arts in store this weekend

If you’re Norwegian, or would like to be, head to Elbow Lake this weekend for the annual Flekkefest Celebration. Activities will also be taking place in Ottertail, with the Otterfest Big Parade beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.

For a trip back in time, take in the activities Saturday at the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center. The Return to the Prairie Day will feature a number of old-time activities in a beautiful setting.

If art is what you are in the mood for, the Arts of the Lakes festival is being held Saturday in Battle Lake.

Friday, August 7

- Ottertail Rod and Gun Club Annual Demo Derby at 7 p.m. south of the water tower on Hwy. 108

- Flekkefest celebrations in Elbow Lake last throughout the day with Crazy Dayz bargains and a city-wide garage sale

-The Flekkefest fireworks show will be held over Flekkefjord Lake at dusk

- The Flekkefest street dance, featuring Velvet Brass at Dream-weaver’s, will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Elbow Lake Fire Hall

- Anthony Miltich and David Stoddard will perform at 7 p.m. at The Spot

Saturday, August 8

- Otterfest Big Parade starts at 11 a.m. by the water tower. Events will be held throughout the day, with a 8:30 p.m. street dance and a 10 p.m. fireworks show

- Lance Johnson Theatre Organ brown bag lunch will be held at noon at A Center for the Arts

- The Westridge Mall Farmer’s Market takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside in the parking lot of entrance B

-The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center is hosting Return to the Prairie Day from noon until 4 p.m.

- Flekkefest celebrations in Elbow Lake last throughout the day with Crazy Dayz bargains and a city-wide garage sale

-The Flekkefest 5K run/walk registration begins at 7:15 a.m. at Kube Park by the Gateway Building

- The Art of the Lakes Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Railroad Park in downtown Battle Lake
