Boys basketball roundup: Arrows fly past B-E

Published 12:51 a.m., December 11, 2009

ASHBY — The Ashby boys basketball team scored the game’s first 15 points against Brandon-Evansville Thursday night and didn’t look back, taking the Little Eight Conference clash 58-41.

The balanced Arrows offensive attack featured four players with at least 10 points, led by Jordan Lillemon’s 16. Tanner Langlie added 12 points off the bench while Jon Quernemoen and Riley Mickelson each chipped in with 11.

Ashby shot 45 percent (21-for-47) from the field, but took control at the defensive end, forcing 18 turnovers on 13 steals.

Lake Park-Audubon 76, West Central Area 71

BARRETT— A sharp-shooing night and offensive rebounding clinic put on by the Raiders were too much for the Knights to overcome.

Lake Park-Audubon shot 52 percent from the floor and 70 percent from the charity stripe while out rebounding the Knights 34-25.

WCA had four players finish in double-digit scoring, led by Sam Richard’s double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Beau Kashmark led the Knights with 18 points.

The Knights (2-1) will be on the road to take on another Heart O’Lakes Conference opponent in the form of Frazee on Tuesday.

Osakis 49, Battle Lake 43

BATTLE LAKE — Adam Marso registered 12 points and teammate Alex Ukkelberg added 10, but it wasn’t enough at Osakis took control of the game late in the first half and pulled through for the nonconference win.

“They hurt us on the boards,” Battle Lake coach Dan Peterka said. “We gave up too many second chance points.”

Parkers Prairie 65, Rothsay 35

PARKERS PRAIRIE — The rebuilding Tigers suffered a lop-sided nonconference loss after shooting just 28 percent from the field.

Reigning all-conference performer Cody Hanneman ended with a game-high 20 points.
